I don’t know exactly why I don’t look forward to trash day. I guess it’s because I have to go around the house and gather the trash from the other rooms. I always seem to be in a hurry because I have to get to work and I never seem to get out of the house in time.
The crazy thing is that it only takes a few extra minutes, but it seems to be such a hassle to me. But if I don’t take the trash out, our garbage will overflow and stink up the place with the smell of rotting food and used kitty litter. So it has to be done.
It is the same with mankind. We take a lot of garbage in through many avenues. Some of these avenues we have paved the road ourselves. Other avenues, we have been pulled along for the ride. Sometimes the garbage is taken in through the mind, what we spend our time on, and who we are hanging around. Garbage can also come through our life experiences and struggles we go through.
Eventually, it builds up and overflows and we turn into rotting, stinking garbage walking around this earth. People that come into contact with those who are packing the garbage smell the stench and stay away.
But I know a cool Garbage Man. He picks up our trash and hauls it away for good. All we have to do is ask Him and He’ll do it. Yes, it sometimes feels inconvenient or time consuming to take the trash to Him, but He is always willing to take it from us…no matter how stinky it is or how heavy it is. We may pile it on every week, but He always has a place to dump it.
So taking out the trash is a necessity for us. Is it trash day for you? The Garbage Man is waiting, but YOU have to take it to the curb in order for Him to pick it up.

Psalm 51 is one of my favorites.
What about the recycling? Did you take out the recycling?
