Through Abraham, God promised that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky and through them, all nations would be blessed. When I think of Abraham, I am typically thinking of a man in perfect reverence towards God who completely obeyed Him in everything and therefore God kept His promise to him. But as we read the account of his life in the book of Genesis, we can see that Abraham was not nearly as perfect…

When we are struggling with our obedience to God, one of the first things we do is that we feel miserable about who we are, compared to the wonderful Savior we know. When you really see how much He loves us, it is abhorrent to think of how short we have fallen. Instead of coming to Him as we are, failures of righteousness, we hide behind trees in hopes we can avoid His presence… because His presence is “piercing to…

Most people who want to follow God have a difficult time letting go of experiences of the past. These experiences come up periodically to haunt them and no matter how hard they try, they cannot suppress them. So these experiences drag them down and take up space in their minds where God needs to be. Then there are those who want to follow God, but their love for things of this world keep taking up their time so they never end…

I love a good pizza. When the pizza is very good, I don’t leave the crust edges on the plate. To me, it is such a waste to not eat the crust of a very good pizza. However, I have had pizza that the crust edge was not worthy of being eaten. If that ever happens to me, I probably will not eat that pizza again. Picking apart food and only consuming bits of it is not a good way to eat. It either…

I remember my first steps in Christ. I stumbled quite often and repeatedly put my foot in my mouth. I had come from a very angry mindset filled with fury, cursing, and a dislike for life itself. Prior to walking in Christ, I would go to church because my girlfriend (now my wife, Joy) was going to church. I had no interest in God, but I had an interest in Joy and wanted to know more about what she believed…

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” -John 14:6 Jesus tells us that we cannot seek the Father without going through Him. He is our ladder, our bridge, our advocate. Some may try to get to the Father through other people on this Earth, whether it is through your parents, your pastor, your priest, or through the life of someone else. But Jesus says it is not possible. He…

I will miss going to the mountains in the fall to see the change in the colors of the leaves on the trees. I will miss that about the Southern portion of the United States. Being in Mexico, there is not a lot of plush landscape even in the mountain areas where I live. The area where I live doesn’t greatly fluctuate in temperature so the seasons are not as obvious, visually. But in the South Carolina and North Carolina mountains, the scenery is beautiful…

This is a sermon I preached at my local church for youth Sabbath this past weekend. God moves when we step out in faith. When we let go of our time, our talents, and our treasures. God moves when we, the church, go all in. Don’t settle for good. Be great for God.
